NEW Autosolo series, starting Knockhill 20/3/16

Hi TT peeps. Please see below details of a new series of events that we are running. These will be ideal for any car and driver and should be a lot of fun. There will be a team competition too, so maybe a wee TT team?

Bringing you a great opportunity to have some competitive fun in your car,The Scottish Association of Car Clubs is delighted to announce the 2016 Autosolo Series supported by Craig Moncrieff Cars and in conjunction with Mission Motorsport. There will be three events taking place, the first of which is at Knockhill Race Track in Fife on the 20th March. A further two events will take place on the 5th June at Kames, and the 21st August at Ardeer.

The events are open to all road legal cars, with classes based on engine size and a separate class for sports cars. The events will consist of a number of all-forwards courses which will be attempted one at a time against the clock. The courses are more open than an autotest, but not quite a fast as a sprint and are ideal for newcomers as well as more experienced competitors. The routes are user friendly and easy to follow and are not too tough on the cars. This is a great opportunity to try some competitive motor sport and is guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

There is a limit to the number of places available for competitors so don't delay in registering your entry for the event. Entry fees cost £20 which represents great value for money. Entries can be made by contacting Glenrothes Car Club; bill.creevy@btinternet.com / 07740 374458

Interesting.

I'd be interested to learn more about the course layout, will it be on the track or in the paddock?

Hi Nick,

The course will be set out in Paddock two at Knockhill (the paddock to the right as you come through the gates). The course layouts will be posted on Glenrothes Car Club's website one week before the event. The layouts will require mostly first and second gear, with no requirement for handbrake turns to set a fast time. There is of course nothing to say you can't use the handbrake, but it's unlikely to give you an advantage - just some smiles. The routes will be all forwards.

This does sound braw. I'll come along to a few events and might even enter the 205.

As in other section, I am certainly interested.
I was toying with idea of buying a Clio 182 lately but I guess it wouldn't put too much stress on the Impreza?

Hi, while a 172 / 182 would be pretty handy for autosolos, I would think that a scoobie would be quick too, and not overstressed - no more so than taking some roundabouts quickly on her majesty's highway.

So, only a few days until the event - still a couple of places left - any takers?
